Hi, I’m John Zadeh

...and I’ve been a professional drummer for 30 years, performing both on stage, and in the recording studio. I created Jamtooners, “The Discovery Course” as a fun activity for kids to easily learn how to play the drums from home.

In my own experience, learning to read music wasn’t really that much fun. I just wanted to play the drums.

So I made a course that I wish had been available to me when I was a kid, by creating these five characters to be drum instructors, all while giving kids the same experience that they would have in watching their favorite cartoon. What better way to reach, influence, and educate children all while having fun!

I wanted to share my drumming knowledge and expertise with children, since my wife Amy and I were unable to have our own. Mentoring children has been another passion of mine, even when I worked for the local school district as a paraprofessional and job coach, in both special education and emotional support.

The visuals that I created throughout the lessons are actual drum notations, which are replaced by the drum characters' images. So, essentially, kids are learning to read an adaptation of drum music, which makes it easier if they want to further their drum education with a local instructor!

I also created the Discovery Course to serve not only as a convenient and affordable course, but also as a testing ground for parents and guardians to see if they want to invest in further drum lessons with a local drum instructor.
